Douglas Forrester, Senior Pastor

Doug is a graduate of Emory & Henry College, and holds a Master of Divinity degree from Duke University Divinity School. He has been serving in the ordained ministry in the United Methodist Church for fifteen years, serving as a student chaplain at Duke Medical Center, the Associate Pastor of Warwick Memorial UMC in Newport News, and the Senior Pastor of the three-church Prince George United Methodist Circuit before coming to Crozet UMC in 2005.

Since 2006, Doug has served as the Chaplain for the Crozet Volunteer Fire Department. He is the past co-leader of SALT, the Virginia Conference United Methodist Sudan Action Leadership Team. He currently serves on the Virginia Conference Board of Ordained Ministry, the Conference Call Culture Committee, and as Chair of the Conference Calling 21 leadership team. He regularly teaches around Virginia on topics including time management for clergy, and using the DISC Inventory for clergy development and conflict resolution.

Doug is married to Tracy Forrester, a fourth-grade teacher at Brownsville Elementary School in Crozet. Doug likes to compose music, read, write, tinker with computers, (especially Macs) and go to the park with his daughters. He has been known to go for a run on the days he gets out of bed early enough.

Doug and Tracy are the parents of Ellen, who is nine years old, a dancer, singer, bookworm, actress, fashion designer, and purveyor of some pretty good knock-knock jokes. In the autumn of 2008, Doug and Tracy became the parents of Claire, who loves her sister, learning her colors, puzzles, and running around the parsonage.
